The 12th annual Guinness World Records Day is being celebrated all over the globe today with upwards of 600,000 people hoping to secure their place in the history books.
Over in Ibaraki, Japan, quick-footed 23-year-old Ayumi Sakamaki and the Double Dutch team Diana of Toride proved they have the fastest feet in the East by setting a new record for the Most double Dutch-style skips in 30 seconds with an incredible 129.
The attempt took place outside at a local velodrome and was overseen by official Guinness World Records adjudicator Kaoru Ishikawa, who was soon able to verify the record after examining slow motion footage of the attempt.
To successfully achieve this title, each skip counted towards the final total must include a full 360 degree revolution of both skipping ropes.
Guinness World Records Day was first launched in 2004 to celebrate the day the Guinness World Records book sold its 100 millionth copy.
