Oh, my God
0:06
I lost my leg on a motorbike when I was 18 years
old. It had been hailing and raining in the morning
0:12
I hit a manhole covering the road, then the bike slipped. A lorry was
coming the other way and pinned me down to drag me 30 yards up the road
0:18
So my leg literally came off on the scene.
It was clinically dead for six minutes
0:22
And that was when I was 18, that
was. So, yeah, 33 years ago
0:31
My name's Darren Greenfield. The current record is 91
kilos for a standing log press for an above-knee amputation
0:42
The warm-up went really well. The log
press is three different movements
0:46
A deadlift. Drive the log to your chest.
Then the press. DARREN GREENFIELD

Darren Greenfield! The crowd is just another level
1:21
I was a fitness fanatic before I lost my
leg. It's never dwelled or held me back
1:25
Basically, I just, like, went
from being a person with two legs
1:29
to being the same person but just with one leg. I was in
the bed playing with dumbbells while I was in the hospital
1:35
I'm always up for challenges. I think
the moment just got the better of me
1:52
I cleaned it to my chest. And as I was pressing
it, I just went light-headed and that was it
1:58
So I had to put it down. And I struggled then
with a bit of balance issues with the leg
2:05
We've got one to settle, so I'll be back for that.
When I failed the lift at the UK's Strongest Man
2:22
I knew I had the strength to press the log press.
Everyone's slightly different on the warm-ups
2:31
I'm like an old steam train, so
I have to really do a lot of reps
2:35
before I go for the max reps, shall
we say. The heaviest log lift, LA1
2:44
This is an official Guinness World
Records attempt. Darren, are you ready
2:51
I am, yes. Lifting your own time. What
goes through my head before a lift
2:56
It's a personal goal. Leave a legacy
for my family, my kids, my grandkids
3:00
I just concentrate on making sure everything
was right, my foot positioning was right
3:08
When I'm feeling it bouncing on my chest,
I know I've got it in the right spot
3:12
and then the press just went
nice and smooth. Do it! Move
3:19
Woo! I can now reveal that you achieved 95kg
3:32
You are officially amazing
