Max Verstappen, Youngest F1 Grand Prix winner's journey

Hello, my name is Max Verstappen. I'm holding a Guinness World Record by being the youngest to ever win a Formula One World Championship Grand Prix

Well, first of all, I mean, you know already how to drive a Formula One car, but then, I mean, you come into a new team, a lot of new people

who you haven't met before, and a lot of preparation is going into those ten days

And, of course, you know, you're a bit nervous and you don't know what to expect, but for me, the most important thing was just to focus on what was important

That was to learn the new car, the new procedures on the steering wheel, and I was spending quite a lot of time here at the factory before I got to Barcelona

I did quite a lot of simulator work, and I felt pretty much prepared for the race

The whole weekend already started off very well. The pace was there, the car was behaving like I wanted it to, and you get a bit more comfortable

And, yeah, of course, at the end of qualifying, it was my best ever result already in qualifying

so it just gave me a great feeling, you know, to get into the race. I was actually very relaxed on the morning. I knew I had a good car

everything was working well, so I was just looking forward to go into the race and just enjoy myself

Yeah, of course, the first lap was very eventful by the Mercedes cars crashing out

so from there on, of course, there were a lot of opportunities for us to get a good result

I was aiming for a podium, and because of that, the podium was already in better shape

And still, we had two Ferrari cars behind, so I needed to keep pushing

Yeah, the last ten laps, they were very difficult, of course. When you do a two-stop instead of a three-stop, the tyres are getting older

and it gets a bit more difficult, but we managed to hang on

To be honest, not really. It didn't really give me more pressure

I mean, again, I always see the drivers as equal, even though if they have won championships or not

Of course, now you're leading the race, but you just have to make no mistakes

and focus on yourself and do the best possible job. My feelings and what was going through my mind was basically just, you know, make no mistakes

Make sure to be first, also, out of the last corner, and that's what we did. And definitely when I crossed the finish line, it was an incredible feeling

It means, to me, just a great record. You're in the book now with a lot of other records around you, it's a very special place

My favourite part of the race was the finish, and I think that's what you do, you know, it's a very special place

My favourites were always in sports, because I'm in sports as well, so I was always checking those things out, and of course, very happy to have my own record now
