Largest collection of Pokemon cards

Advice that I would give other collectors who want to collect Pokemon cards

Save them money. Come in. Welcome to the Pokemon Lear. We've kind of laid everything out in order of history, really

If you see the folders here, that's the entire first edition in English

all the way through from 1999 up until 2024. So from the folders, we've taken..

a lot of the higher value cards out and they've been then graded and put into containers just for safety

Jim Challenge Gold Middle Card. This is Snorlex EX from Team Rocket Returns, which is a great set

These two are the super rear trainer cards from the Black Star promo cardass vending series

These may well be the first artwork cards produced. 2016 Evolution's Mew Hollow, but they're the league promo cards and they're the winner cards

first place, second place, third place and fourth place. These are from heart gold, soul, silver

This is actually my favourite combi card. This is a few of the Wayfoo trainer cards

which are super popular in Japan. A lot of the trainers that were released of the females

in anime form started to become super valuable. So this is the first ever, we believe, collectible set

from Pocket Monsters, which then became Pokemon. This is probably one of my favourite sets

because it's how it all began. First 150 Pokemon cards that were ever released

didn't include the Mew. And then we go on to Pocket Monsters file cards

Older artworks were just so much more detailed. So again, Pocket Monsters complete set

This is the original folder as well from Japan with the original Sleaving Got the Pocket Monster Prisms You can see the reflective back which is what we call hollow or prism depending on each era

So this is the first edition Hollows, a graded card folder which is pretty cool

So that's Charozoard first edition. Obviously grade 10 is the main chase card in the Pokemon world

This is one of the examples I would have traded at school, possibly swapped it for some pogs

is now probably worth 3,000, 4,000 pound for the single card in this condition

Combined with the rest of the set complete, it's probably 30,000 pounds worth of value just for the one set alone

The next lot is like the same set again but in every language

The Italian, French, German set, we've got the Spanish set, Portuguese, Korean, finally, we've got Chinese

We have all of them, unfortunately, bar the Dutch language. That became a bit impossible for us to find it

Anyone with any Dutch first edition, let us know. So this is the Watsy Era Japanese cards, everything from base to gym

Again, all in chronological order. In the Japanese, it's so much better than the English

They grade better and just visually I think they look better. This is our Japanese neo sets

We've got Neo Destiny's here. It's a Neo Genesis. Now we're into Revelations

Ryku, one of my favourite cards from the set. This is Bending series, which is probably my most favourite series

is all of all time, certainly my most favourite Pikachu. The artwork is, there's nothing that's been made like it since

Because they were sold on these vending series sheets, you'd peel the Pokemon cards from the sheet

These are the Tops Cromes. So it's all 151 of the cards, all three series of those

One has been very collectible over the last couple of years, evolving Skies. This set is based around EV and its evolutions Then we go to Jolzion which is my favourite of the EV Evolutions This is Umbra and VMAX which is the chase card of the whole set And another collected card set

This is the Silvian Secret Rare. So here's the little secret rare as they added in in the 151 collection

Each of them showcases sort of an art style that they will follow

So now we're getting into the 151 set. What made this set very unique, this has an effect, which you will see, a load of

poker balls dotted around the borders of the card. This is the master reverse because it's exactly the same

but instead of a poker ball showcasing on the foil, it showcases the master ball

So trying to collect all 100 plus of the reverse hollows is a very expensive and hard thing to do

Poncho cards, but super cool art works. Everyone likes ponchos. Pocket Monsters World Map cards on the back of the card

is the Pocket Monsters World Map. The main chase cards of the Pokemon collections

of New Era. So this is a load of different Japanese mini sets and mini promos

Loads of different rare bits there. You're probably seen these all over the room. We've got 131

folders for the Guinness World Record in total. So this is a legendary Chirazard, but this is my

favourite set of all time. There's the Chase card from the Sky Ridge set. This one's in a pretty

decent condition and nine. In terms of value, what would you think today? I don't know, seven

to 8,000 pounds, something like that. Yeah. Some of the graded gold star collection

from the EX era cards. Current market value of the gold stars

probably 20, 25,000 pounds at the moment. Essentially Japanese first edition base set

Very hard to say, but these cards can range from anywhere between thousand pounds up to 25 pounds I believe like the magic of Poequin it just sort captures the inner kid in a lot of the collectors

You see from all the different artworks, especially the styles of Pikachu, you know

building off of obviously all of the wildlife that, you know, just the world offers anyway

It just adds that fantasy aspect to nature that I think any young kid or even a young adult

love so much. slogan's got to catch them all and that's what we've tried to do. Yeah

So I've been collecting Pokemon cards since I was at school in 1999

Very quickly it became an obsession to complete all the sets and we've got to catch them all

and that has been our main aim for the last 20 years. So we are now recognised by Guinness World Records as the largest collection of

Pokemon in the world and it feels pretty damn cool. Yeah we achieved 48,000 cards which I think was about 15,000

more than the previous record. So we were trying to make sure we, you know

if we're gonna beat it, we wanna do the best we can and make sure that hopefully this record lasts

for many years at least. Try and cement our name and hold the record, yeah

I don't really know what to do with that. I don't think I've ever played

No, I'm saying here, to be honest. Probably about three or four thousand cards in there

just thrown into a couple of JD sports bags And in that combination were two Gold Star Charozoids, which today are worth anywhere between

five to 25,000 pounds each. And they weren't bad condition at all

Sent them off for grading. I think we paid £81 for that auction
