Longest marathon playing softball

In Cartersville, Georgia, USA, 40 men gathered to take part in a grueling feat of endurance

Their challenge? To play softball for longer than anyone in history had ever played before

The Guinness Wild Records title, The Longest Marathon Playing Softball, was set at four days, 19 hours and three minutes in Canada over a decade ago

The stakes were high, but this was more than just a record attempt

the players were members of the organisation men opposing sex trafficking, also known as most

And they were playing to raise awareness for the fight against sex trafficking

I've been fighting sex trafficking from the past decade with interdiction, with recovery, with restoration

And I've also played sports all my life. So it seems to make sense to bring those two things together

But this was not their first attempt. A failed attempt back in April due to injuries and back

had left them even more determined. In our first attempt, you know, we all came out, 100% speed

aggressive, going after it, just like we would in a normal softball game. Well, this is a 121 hour game

We've got to pace ourselves, take our time, make sure we don't get injured or weary if we can help it

And in the journey against trafficking, it's not going to happen overnight, it's not a quick thing, it's a long journey

we've got to pace ourself, do what we can do to be successful at the end

Not going to lie a little sore, but that's expected when you're third

30 hours in softball. Over the days that followed, the players had to abide by strict rules

They could only rest in shifts, sleep in dugouts, and step away for brief five-minute

bathroom breaks. Meals were taken right beside the field. Soreness, injuries, exhaustion, these were just a few of the sacrifices the team was

willing to endure. I didn sleep a whole lot The hardest part it definitely been mental I mean it 8 o when you start playing and it 2 a when you finish and you like I still have over 100 hours left of this and I exhausted but like it worth it

You know, all the ladies from chair from the stands that have been rescued that have been saved through the efforts of this organization

Like, I limp around these bases a thousand times. Runs and runs and runs

This thing is going phenomenally well. 40 guys still standing, fighting to the end

This was not just a game. It was a test of endurance and grit

The hours passed, the players pushed through exhaustion, and by the early morning of Sunday, September the 22nd, the game was still going

Guinness World Records adjudicator Michael M. Brick stood by. watching closely as the clock ticked toward the record

The atmosphere was electric, the anticipation building. Would they break the record? Would they make history

We had a measurement of five days, 59 minutes. It's a new..

And then it happened. After five days and 59 minutes, they had done it

They shattered the previous record, playing for 121 hours. I genuinely love these guys and I know that they love me

All 40 men are still standing, beat up a bit, but still standing

And we got the record and more importantly than that, we raised awareness of money to fight sex trafficking

I'm going to need a little hiatus, you know, I'm going to need some time to maybe work out my shoulder a little bit, you know, maybe get my hips back in check, and then maybe, you know, the side of the softball won't repulse me or anything like that, but we'll see
