I had a just normal childhood. I was fully
sighted. I didn't drove until I was about mid-20s
0:07
but I found out that I had a disease
called RP or retinitis pigmentosa
0:12
I was diagnosed when I was 13. I just
went in for like a routine eye exam
0:17
Optometrists noticed something a little
bit off, sent me to a bunch of specialists
0:21
eventually got diagnosed, but still didn't affect
me until my mid-20s is when I started to actually
0:28
have kind of more severe vision loss where it
affected my day-to-day living. I was super nervous
0:34
in the beginning skating this at a skate park
when I knew there's other skateboarders around
0:40
I didn't know how people would take me. People
were going to be like angry if I'm in the way
0:45
and stuff like that. And then just kind of doing
it and then realizing like people were kind of
0:51
you know, they're stoked. They weren't mad or angry
at all. They were hyped to see me out skating again
