Hi, I'm Tristan Matthews, I'm from Los Angeles, California, and I am the Guinness World Record
0:06
holder for the largest collection of Spider-Man memorabilia. The first piece I want to show you is right over here
0:29
It's a page from Marvel Team-Up 67. It's John Byrne artwork. It features Spider-Man and Tigera teaming up against Kraven Hunter, who is definitely
0:38
one of my favorite Spider-Man foes. The page was given to me by my friend Renee
0:42
Her husband was Greg Karras. Greg passed away about two years ago, so the piece holds a little bit of special meaning
0:48
aside from being just a really kick-ass piece of Spider-Man artwork, and it also reminds
0:52
me daily of my friend Greg, and it's just sort of a sweet thing to keep in mind
0:59
Another thing that has a lot of significance to me is the certificate that UFineFolks awarded
1:07
me with for the largest collection of Spider-Man memorabilia. I have it here on display, along with a picture of me from the night that I did the attempt
1:14
as well as a sort of Oscar-type statue I purchased for myself to commemorate the event
1:20
And then I have this pretty cool artwork drawn by an artist named Josh Lynch, who commemorated
1:25
the moment of receiving the award. He has a great blog called A Spider a Day, where he sort of does different things than
1:33
the current zeitgeist, so when Mr. Rogers was getting a movie, he did Spider-Man as
1:37
Mr. Rogers, Spider-Man as Mr. T, there's Spider-Man playing pool with Kraven the Hunter, Spider-Man
1:42
as Han Solo. It's pretty cool to get this, so I like to keep it in with the same memorabilia that
1:46
reminds me of everything we're talking about right now. Has everybody tried a wheat cake yet
1:57
You're so good! Oh, I'm so glad! I used to be called Spider-Man in high school, not for the reason that you think, I didn't
2:08
have any superpowers or was good at anything, it was just because my uncle was murdered
2:15
The superpowers are not what they're all packed up to be, ladies don't respect it
2:19
Like I have the power to climb walls and snake people, women call me clingy
2:25
I have a friend, Chris, who actually works for Marvel Studios and he worked on Captain
2:29
America Civil War, which introduced Spider-Man into the MCU movies, and he gave me this pretty
2:34
cool coin. So again, on its own, it is what it is, but it carries that extra meaning of reminding
2:40
me of my friend Chris. My favorite one that Rich has given me, I may have seen before, which is this Mego Spider-Man
2:47
which is sort of a famous, you know Adult Swim did a show years ago, Robot Chicken
2:51
where they used that style Mego doll. I have Spider-Man reading a little miniature Daily Bugle, hanging out with Mjolnir, Thor's
2:56
hammer, and then with his buddy Captain America, and what else would Captain America, most
3:01
American man eat, but cheeseburgers and milkshakes. The biggest gift that I've received and sort of the thing that has the most meaning and
3:07
is the final item that I want to show you, is my copy of Amazing Spider-Man number one
3:12
This was a surprise from a group of friends who all signed this picture frame to the right
3:17
of it that also was when they presented it to me. There was no real special meaning behind it, you know, giving the gift
3:24
My friend Nate had spoken to a local comic shop here in Los Angeles, and they had come
3:27
into a copy. My friend Nate got another group of people sort of coordinated, including Rich again
3:32
whose name is Cameron, who's given me the bulk of the gifts that I have with Spider-Man
3:36
And just one night at a brewery just surprised me with it, and it was the last comic that
3:41
I needed to complete my run of Every Amazing Spider-Man, which also completed everything
3:45
from every spectacular, amazing, sensational, adjective-less, friendly neighborhood, superior, ultimate, and, you know, so on and so forth
4:02
Thanks for coming. Tristan, would you like to say one more word? No
4:08
No. Thank you so much for hanging out with me and checking it out
4:16
I hope that you enjoyed watching this video as much as I enjoyed showing you everything
4:20
And, um, Excelsior
