This is Clem. He has the
world's largest brick collection
0:06
Let's take a look. The great time for making
the bricks was about maybe 1870 to 1910
0:16
And every pound had to have their
own bricks because they needed it
0:23
Really needed them for fireplaces. A special kind of brick
like this, a white one, has a certain clay which stands here
0:36
And everybody needed a fire pump. Collecting
anything, it kind of gets away from them
0:49
This is a very rare brick here.
A pound, we became a state in 197
0:57
And Leota was a little town in western Oklahoma and it lost its post
office in 196 So that a long time ago when that town to disappear
1:11
But luckily I got one of those. This is the Tulsa
Indian Territory, IT, and that's a good one to have
1:27
This brick is thicker. These were used in streets. So he had
bricks in streets, he had bricks for walls, bricks for houses
1:37
They're all somewhat different. Sometimes there's a spelling mistake
1:47
Are those more valuable than correctly printed ones? Sometimes
they are. And I think Oklahoma has a history for the most
1:57
misspelled books I don know why Maybe our age case on system was not real
good But one of my favorite bricks we don know where it from exactly
2:13
But this is a sidewalk brick. Turn it around. And this is the
brick that they used, we think it was made in Washington, D.C
2:26
And the only brick made in Washington, D.C. maker
in Washington DC ever was where the Pentagon is now
2:34
So there may be some of these under the Pentagon,
but I think that this is one of the ties
2:43
This is interesting. I got this from
a museum in Jefferson City, Tennessee
2:48
It's a Roman brick, and it was made 100 AD. What
it feels to me about where it says they have names
2:56
and you can trace them back. historically the places and that always improved me I will
say something about the barn too My son and I built this just expressly for the brick
3:13
And he, it was unusual, but I like that. How
do you, how did you count all these bricks
3:28
Well, I didn't count them. I was on a brick job
and I had nothing, no idea what was going on
3:36
But my daughter and son-in-law organized an
application and they and some of their friends
3:44
counted me, verified them by videotape and
I got back in town and it was a big surprise
3:52
And I'm very happy to have this certificate.
I don't feel to have that certificate
