Hi, my name is Josh Kaiser. I'm from Browningstville, Pennsylvania, and
I am the current Guinness World Record Holder for the world's tallest hat
0:11
I grew up reading the Guinness Book of World Records Books, and I always thought
it would be neat to set one of those myself a few years ago during the pandemic
0:22
scrolling through the records, and I came across
previous World Record holder for the World's Tallest Hat
0:28
He was a gentleman from Tampa,
Florida. The picture was just him
0:31
A absurdly tall hat, and I thought, oh, this might be
fun. For the first day that I started this process
0:36
I thought it would be pretty easy. Just
duct tape a bunch of cardboard together
0:40
But it turned out to be a little bit more
complicated. Strong materials that are also light
0:45
and then finding a way to connect those to your
head. It was challenging, and there were times
0:48
where I would try something and it would
work, I would give up for a little bit
0:52
So it became a little bit of a personal
challenge. All right, so today we are attempting
0:56
the world's tallest hat. So it's an elongated Santa hat. So originally I had planned to do a Philadelphia Phillies hat Go Phillies
But as I started working through this I figured that a Santa Claus hat might stay upright better just because of its shape
1:19
So it's extremely heavy to wear and walk with. And it's an
awkward weight since it's protruding so high from my head
1:26
But for this record to count, you have
to walk 10 meters without it falling off
1:30
I think I'm more glad that I can kind
of share this project with people now
1:36
Since it was something that I was working on behind the scenes for a
while, now I can say that I'm a Guinness World Record holder as well
1:44
The world's tallest hat measures in at
5.422 meters. That's 17 feet, 9.5 inches
1:52
I think a taller hat is 100% possible. And I encourage
anybody out there who may see this to give it a go
1:59
I had a lot of fun doing it. despite the
challenges. If you end up making the larger one
2:04
I'd love to see it.
And I tip my cap to you
