It's one of the most complicated
exercise that you can do in the gym
0:03
It requires maximum focus, agility, and
strength to complete. My name is Michael Idella
0:08
I naturally am very curious person. I love to learn
and push myself in all different types of endeavors
0:13
I chose to take this record on to help raise money.
My grandfather was a veteran who died by suicide
0:17
And I wanted to use my physical strength to bring
awareness to the mental and emotional strength needed
0:22
to face the inner struggles. So many
people silently battle. We went for 255
0:28
and at the first attempt, I wasn't able to get my hand in the
right place. So I dropped it so I wouldn't waste any more energy
0:35
Everyone was so hype. The energy was actually palpable. And I thought
to myself, this is either going to cause him to break the record
0:42
or be the reason he doesn't break the
record. So you start laying flat on your back
0:47
You hold a weight over your chest, extend in front of you
with one arm. And then you need to come up onto your elbow
0:52
kind of doing a side crunch. This is definitely the hardest part for
me because it that same arm same leg Overhead lunch it super awkward
1:09
The first time I did, I didn't even move. And I got
nervous for a second, but come on, everyone's watching it
1:14
Let's go for it. The way back down is really tough because
you put so much energy into going up that then, you
1:22
have to make sure you save enough in order
to come back down to complete the lift
1:25
I've trained the way down a lot, and so I wanted to have to have to have to be able to. have
a lot of confidence that if I could get up, as long as I could stay focused, I know I could
1:31
come back down. It wasn't easy. I kept psyching
myself out as I got closer to that final goal
1:40
I think breaking records is important to
people because it's inspiring to watch others
1:44
put themselves in uncomfortable positions and achieve something seemingly impossible. The
successful record total was 255 pounds or 115.6 kilos. I love holding a Guinness record
1:58
title and I will 100% be
going for some more records
