My name is Max Budgen, I'm 17 years old and I have the world record for the most pages in a flipbook
0:05
The record attempt itself took place over a number of days. I'd sit down at my desk
0:09
at school, on trains and I'd draw. Draw on small pieces of paper that looked a bit like this
0:16
In terms of the toughest moments that I encountered whilst attempting this record, I think it's the fact that flipbooks are usually meant to be short, snappy and interesting narratives
0:24
So by the time I got to about page 500 or so, I was getting rather bored and running out of ideas
0:28
but nevertheless I reminded myself that world records aren't meant to be easy
0:32
so I persevered and carried on. Instead of feeling an intense burst of emotion
0:36
on final completion of the project I think I felt a sense of pride at key milestones throughout
0:43
For example I'd never gone beyond 300 pages in a flipbook before so that was definitely a moment
0:48
for me and page a thousand was I think pretty incredible because I'd never thought I'd make it
0:54
that far. By the time I got to 1,300 pages, I'd done it. I just needed to confirm the record

If you want to be a record holder before you're an adult, you have to be tenacious. Commitment
1:04
is vital, especially when it comes to something like this, when you're drawing very repetitive
1:07
figures over a very long period of time, and when some of my friends would be choosing more
1:13
relaxed pursuits in their free time. I also think a sense of humour helped me along the way quite a
1:17
bit, especially seeing the bright side when things went terribly wrong
