What does it take to become the
world's oldest sporting deliverer
0:04
The incredible, 90-year-old Tim Carington is
here to reveal his secret. You have to burn
0:10
You're missing the most important
thing. They say, no pain, no gain
0:14
But, uh, let's hear his surprising and
heartwarming origin story. You know, it's boring
0:21
I'm a month and a half premature. I weigh five and a half
pounds. And my parents struggled and struggled to save me
0:27
Have fun, Tim. Okay, thanks. I was an
asthmatic, very unhealthy sicko my life
0:34
In 1947, when I was 15 years old, I decided that I couldn't
do that anymore because I wanted to be a superhero
0:42
76 years later, Jim still hits the gym
regularly. Yeah, I see Jim almost every day
0:49
He does more than a good 60% of my
clients or anybody that comes in his gym
0:53
He does these guys. He does. Oh. Right now, I
train three times a week, two hours per session
1:01
Jim has a few tricks for his
longevity. Five years coming in
1:05
This business of doing 10 reps and holding the weight for 10 seconds,
and then doing 10 more reps and doing that several times, you get to burn
1:14
No pain, no gain. But Jim's biggest secret is adaptability. What
works for a person at one time in their life isn't the same
1:22
And that's the whole thing about lifestyle. It's adaption. To continue doing this, you know, so far into his years,
it's an inspiration to me to know that I have the opportunity, hopefully, to be able to experience it for that long
1:33
And it's just awesome to see that he still
has his fire and still keeps it all going
1:37
I want to be like you when we grow up. It's not
just the workouts that changed over the years
1:43
But his diet is key. I used to do the
old style. Lots of milk and lots of beans
1:48
Those are the two foods that I'm not
allergic to. But it leads to inflammation
1:53
Changed my diet entirely. I'm doing more
goulash, olive oil, mushrooms, things like that
2:00
But, really, if I do that, I can continue
to change. And I can keep this thing up
2:07
I'll tell you something. I got 110%
sure that you're going to go to heaven
2:10
Oh, good. Because you act like a
king. Tim is a graphic filmmaker
2:15
He's a film-influenced competition winning bodybuilder.
This is the year that I got serious and gained weight
2:22
My first contest, and I placed second, and in
one of the most muscular, and I got two good ads
2:28
I've done many shows that muscle means probably
20 years ago. He's in first place, you know
2:34
First place! I was only saying it's
over 80, but I got first place
2:38
Tim first achieved the record at the tender
age of 83, and he is still competing
2:43
Being a Guinness World Record holder
is what's the inspiration for me
2:48
I've done over 60 competitions. You
know, I've been through that, I know
2:53
You know, it's opened an entire new
universe for me. I've enjoyed it very much
2:58
I think everybody can do one of them. But
I think the facility is too good to do that
3:04
There is no doubt that Tim is a
true inspiration for young and old
3:09
And what inspires me is for people
to come up and say I inspired them
3:15
I mean, 84 years young, you know what I
mean, with abs, you know, muscular 84 years
3:22
I have a very low opinion of myself,
physically, you know, as a bodybuilder
3:27
And I feel fantastic for me. And I knew the only
way I could make it is that if I outlast everybody
3:36
And that's exactly what I did
sell
