Rupp Arena got pretty rowdy with the record breaking wall of noise created by University of Kentucky Basketball fans last week.

Already a heated game between classic rivals UK Wildcats and the Kansas University Jayhawks, the Wildcats fans showed their passionate support by thundering into a new record title, for the Loudest crowd roar at an indoor sports event.

Also known as the Big Blue Nation for the sea of blue the fans create in the stands, Wildcats supporters have long been known for being among the loudest fans in the NCAA.

It was a reputation they more than lived up to for the record attempt, after managing to create insanely loud 126.4-decibel measurement.

With the hashtag #TurnUpRupp, which was put out on social media by University of Kentucky Athletics and the University of Kentucky HealthCare’s Markey Cancer Center, students and alumni from all over came out for the attempt.

The roar was defined by a natural noise made by fans at a game, with clapping and cheering only being measured by an official adjudicator just before the tipoff.

With tremendous effort, the Big Blue Nation beat out the fans of NBA team Sacramento Kings, who previously held the title at 126 decibels.
