This week’s instalment features Japanese breakdancing champion Takahiro Igarashi, aka “ASHITAKA”, who recently attempted two Guinness World Records titles.

First the Niigata-born dancer tried to break his own record for the Most consecutive one-hand jumps/hops (breakdance).
Guinness World Records adjudicator Kaoru Ishikawa came along to officiate the attempt and ensure that the rules were followed. Most importantly, the jumps had to be consecutive with no significant interruptions or breaks.
ASHITAKA – who says having high stamina is the most important thing when attempting these type of challenges – successfully bettered his previous record of 133 with an impressive new total of 139.
Next the dancer attempted the Most consecutive elbow hops (breakdance) and absolutely smashed the former record of 66 with an incredible 187 jumps.
On being presented with his certificate, ASHITAKA said: “Guinness World Records titles are global, so I never thought I could get one. But now it’s happened, I’m really grateful I did not give up on 11 years or practice and hard work. Getting a record has made all the effort worthwhile.”
