American plumbling products maker Delta Faucet recently soaked itself in the glory of a getting a Guinness World Records title after setting a new mark for Most people showering simultaneously (single venue) at an event in Indiana, USA.

Hosted by Olympian swimming champion and broadcaster Summer Sanders, the challenge was organised as part of Delta Faucet’s HappiMess campaign to spread the message that “a messy life is a happy life”.

The communal cleaning took place after a Warrior Dash race – a fun, extreme, 5K obstacle course open to anyone and everyone, which leaves participants completely filthy and covered in mud.

To get clean, an incredible 331 racers jumped into a huge outdoor shower that was custom made by Delta Faucet.

Catherine Roper, Delta brand marketing director, said, “For Delta Faucet, breaking this record isn’t just about how many people showered, it’s about celebrating how many people enjoyed the race and this experience to its fullest.”

In order to break the record, everyone had to remain under the 164 shower-heads for at least five minutes while washing with soap or shower gel.

The attempt bettered the previous benchmark set in May 2014 by 12Plus Shower Cream in Thailand.

An official Guinness World Records adjudicator was on hand to congratulate the participants and present a certificate to the new record holders.
