Indian children's rights activist and 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Kailash Satyarthi, has hosted a record-breaking lesson in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

344 children gathered at Jayshree Periwal International School to take part in the world’s Largest child safe guarding lesson and learn a variety of topics such as the rights of kids in India and the laws that protect them.

Also included in the 30-minute-long lesson was advice on how to identify and prevent sexual abuse such as the "no touch rule".

The attempt was organised by the Nobel Peace Prize winner’s charity, Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation, as part of its ongoing bid to raise awareness about and prevent child abuse in the country.

Kailash shared his lesson plan with many schools across India, which also hosted classes throughout October, however these lessons were not part of the official record attempt.

He said: "The world witnessed an unprecedented moment when close to four crore Indian children joined the war on rape and sexual abuse. They participated in the world’s largest child safeguarding lesson across India.

"This is the most effective attack on the age-old mind-sets that stigmatise and blame the victims and strengthen the perpetrator."

"Today, I am confident that India’s children understand that they own their body, mind and soul. Since this generation is ready to protect itself, it is a guarantee that the generations to come will be protected."

Guinness World Records adjudicator, Swapnil Dangarikar was at Jayshree Periwal International School to verify the new record.

"I am pleased to have been a part of this event. The cause for which the Kailash Satyarthi Foundation has organised this march, and the record attempt today, is extremely important for today's world. I am glad to declare that the record achieved today for the largest child safeguarding lesson consists of 344 participants.
