Freestyle footballer Indi Cowie has set new standards in two of Guinness World Records' incredibly popular football (soccer) titles.

The 23-year-old set new records for the Most “around the world” ball control tricks in one minute and Most touches of a football with the soles in one minute (female) during an adrenaline-filled record attempt at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which was part of the #SoccerEverywhere platform which aims to connect the sport with new fans

In order to achieve the first record, the US resident needed to ensure her leg encircled the ball while it was in mid-air before catching it on her foot again.

Scottish-born Cowie managed to succeed under the pressure of a 60-second attempt, beating the former record holder by one rotation with a total of 60 tricks.

For the second title, Indi needed to make sure that the ball did not touch the floor once – but the freestyle expert was inspired by the challenge, and vigilantly achieved a new record of 200.

The 23-year-old is a world-class athlete, who has gained two million followers across her social channels after posting clips of her professional freestyle football tricks in 2013.

She became involved with mastering tricks after tearing her ACL as a freshman in college, forcing her to reframe her future in the sport.

Dedicated to making a solid recovery, she took up an interest in football trickshots and stunts, and practiced diligently until making a global name for herself in 2012 – a result of being dubbed the FIFA Street World freestyle champion by the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo.

Indi is no stranger to record-breaking, and in fact set her first title in 2012, for the Most heel touches in one minute (female) at 102.

Her two most recent achievements beat renowned freestyler Laura Biondo (Venezuela), who holds multiple freestyle records.

In celebration of Indi’s success, AT&T surprised the athlete with a congratulatory video from her friends and family, which displayed on the stadium’s screen.
