The Wildkogel Arena Neukirchen ski resort in Austria provided the perfect backdrop for a successful world record attempt last week for the Longest chain of sleds.

The event was organised by Oberpinzgauer Fremdenverkehrsförderungs (Bramberg Tourist Office) and Oberpinzgauer Fremdenverkehrsförderungs (Wildkogel Mountain Railways) and took place at the resort in Bramberg.

Longest line of sleds in Austria
Participants enjoyed stunning views over of the Wildkogel Arena Neukirchen

They needed 50 toboggans in order to achieve the record, but they smashed this number with an impressive 508 sleds.

The 750 metres long single-file chain was led by Austrian luge double world champion (natural toboggan runs) Lea Geiger and the Mayor of Bramberg Hannes Enzinger was also in attendance.

The tricky challenge saw the participants move together down a long snow-covered slope, ensuring they all remained connected throughout.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Lena Kuhlmann was on hand to officiate the exciting attempt and was delighted to announce its success at the celebration party afterwards.

Wildkogel Mountain Railways managers Rudolf Göstl and Bernhard Gruber were thrilled with the outcome: “The organisational effort was worthwhile. We are proud and delighted to have achieved the world record title in the Wildkogel Arena … a really sensational event!”

A team of 20 people from the railway and local tourist office had been planning this record attempt for months.

The tobogganing event marked the beginning of a number of sledging activities that have been taking place in the area over the past couple of weeks.
