At Microgaming’s stand at the annual ICE Totally Gaming conference in London last month, Guinness World Records presented Jon Heywood with an official certificate celebrating his win of the Largest jackpot payout in an online slot machine game in history – a whopping €17,879,645 ($20,062,600, £13,209,300).

The 26-year-old won more than 52 million times his bet when playing Microgaming's Mega Moolah (a five reel, twenty-five payline online slot game) on Betway's website last October.

The solider, who previously toured in Afghanistan with the Army, has used his win to secure the best possible medical treatment for his father who is waiting for a heart and lung transplant.

At the recent gaming event, Jon spoke of his achievement: “It’s been a few months since the win, but I still can’t quite believe I won such a life-changing amount! And to officially become a Guinness World Records title holder is the icing on the cake. With my winnings I’ve enjoyed some nice holidays, bought a new car, ensured my family are looked after and invested wisely for the future. It’s been incredible.”

Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming commented: “It was fantastic to welcome Jon to our stand at ICE for the official Guinness World Records certificate handover. Having spent some time with him today, I can honestly say it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. We’re proud to share the world record and look forward to creating our next jackpot millionaire.”

Jon’s payout beat the previous record of  €17,861,813 (£15,143,600, $22,974,400), which was won by an anonymous player in Finland, playing the 'Mega Fortune' game on Paf.com, in January 2013.
