Canadian retailer Loblaw Companies Limited recently put on an incredible display of team spirit to set a new record for Most players in an ice hockey exhibition match. 
The super-sized game took place at the Richcraft Sensplex, a central figure in minor league hockey in Ottawa.

A total of 433 players took to the ice to take part in a continuous game which lasted eight hours between teams composed entirely of Loblaw Companies Limited employees. 
The record attempt formed part of Loblaw’s National Kick-Off Event, which is organised to develop enthusiasm for the coming year and foster team building.

The attempt broke the previous record of 374 players set by the Lindsay Leigh Kimmett Memorial Foundation (Canada) at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada, on January 2013.

Speaking after the history-making showdown, Peter McLaughlin, president of Emerging Business for Loblaw Companies Limited said: “Ottawa residents shop in Loblaw stores every day and we thought this would be a great way for our Loblaw colleagues to interact with our customers in a fun and exciting way.”
“We were so excited for the opportunity to achieve a Guinness World Records title”. 
Brad Kinnaird, the general manager for the Richcraft Sensplex, the location of the attempt added: “The Sensplex is always looking for creative ideas to make hockey fun for the community - what can be more fun that attempting a Guinness World Records title!”

Commenting on the attempt, Guinness World Records official adjudicator Christina Conlon said: “It was a true pleasure to witness Loblaw’s and the community come together, not only to have a day of fun on the ice, but to achieve something officially amazing”.
