Daniel Goldfarb has the Largest collection of football shirts with 402

Daniel Goldfarb is a huge fan of Argentine football club River Plate but it was only when he moved to Florida in 2009 it became clear how much he loved them.

Fast-forward nine years and he now has the Guinness World Records title for the Largest collection of football shirts with 402, the overwhelming majority of which belonging to his beloved River Plate.

The club is based in the Belgrano neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. Established in 1901, it was named by FIFA in 2000 as the ninth best team of the 20th century, and now they have an Officially Amazing fan.

Daniel moved from his native Argentina to Bal Harbour Florida in 2009 when he "built this house and left a room" for his collection.

The 37-year-old said: "I decided to break this record because another collector told me 'you should check if you are the biggest collector of River Plate jerseys because you have everything'."

Heartened by that support Daniel eventually had them all counted by the local mayor and a police officer in the presence of officials from the River Plate Museum and president of River Plate Filial Miami, with the final total standing at 402.

The count took place at Bal Harbour City Hall, with a dedicated walk-in closet cleared to house all the shirts which Daniel also decorated with River Plate flags.

Some of Daniel's other shirts including a Peru national team shirt (top row, second from left), a US national team shirt from 2010 (top row, third from left) and Atlanta Sport from Argentina (bottom row, second and third from left)

This also allowed fans to get up close to this record-breaking collection.

Daniel’s collection of official jerseys date from the 1930s to the current 2018 strip and all were approved as unique by Rodrigo Daskal from the River Plate Museum who confirmed none of the jerseys were the same or duplicates.

Other shirts from the collection including Atlanta Sport from Argentina (top row, first and second from left), Olimpo de Bahia Blanca from Argentina (top row, third and fourth from left and second row, first and second from left) and Argentina national shirt (bottom right)
