Ray Cox has the Guinness World Records title for the highest Xbox Gamerscore

On 21 November 2018, the USA’s "Stallion83" (aka Raymond Cox) finally saw his record haul of Xbox GamerScore points – a running total that Xbox gamers accumulate as they complete specific Achievements in the games they play – reach two million.

The moment, broadcast live on Twitch, was the culmination of 13 years of playing videogames. The journey enough to earn him a substantial following on Twitch and Twitter, recognition from Microsoft’s Xbox team itself and the continuance of his Highest Xbox Live GamerScore Guinness World Records title.

"I've been searching for a proper achievement title (to play as he hits the 2 million points mark) for weeks and I just couldn’t find anything," he told us. "Halo is my favourite franchise so when I fired it (Halo: The Master Chief Collection) up while searching for a game, it hit me that it should be the game I use."

In the end "Stallion83" chose to play Halo 2 from the Halo: The Master Chief Collection. He faced an agonising wait for the game’s final few cutscenes to end, before, finally, the Xbox Achievements – and the GamerScore points – he needed to hit exactly two million points were unlocked.

The moment was shared with his followers as the messages of congratulations poured in. While even Xbox was on hand to help him celebrate, sending "Stallion83" a one-off Xbox One controller that was engraved with "2,000,000 G".

"So, I used a special controller for the 1 million milestone (sent by Xbox) and now I have the two million one to use for this milestone. I use them once for the achievement that gets me to the milestone and never use them again. I just display them."

As for what comes next, we asked whether he now has the 3 million mark in his sights?

"This I don’t know,. Two million has taken 13 years now. I got my first achievement on 22 November 2005. So, I did the 2 million almost 13 years to the day. I’ll always love video games and achievements and I’ll always be playing and going for them."

If he does decide to keep going, he does at least have a lot of games recently released, or due for release in the near future, that are chock full of GamerScore points.

"There are still a ton (of games) I haven’t had a chance to get enough time with that are out now. I need to play more Red Dead Redemption 2 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. There’s new Forza Horizon 4 DLC coming in December too; as well as Just Cause 4, Gears of War 5, Crackdown 3, Metro Exodus and Ori Will of the Wisps all coming soon!"
