Lauren and Will Powers are very proud to own not one but TWO record-breaking cats at their home in Ferndale, Michigan.
Their pets Cygnus and Arcturus have both managed to achieve titles for their lengthy physical attributes.
Cygnus Regulus Powers, a silver Maine Coon cat, has entered the pages of the new Guinness World Records 2018 Edition as the kitty with the Longest tail on domestic cat (living).
Having a tail that measures 44.66 cm (17.58 inches) comes with its fair share of challenges.
His owners say that Cygnus will dip his tail into things accidentally as it’s so far away from his body.
They also have to be extra careful when walking around the house and closing doors - as his tail might get caught unknowingly.
However, Cygnus shares the spotlight with brother Arcturus, who makes up for his shorter tail with his incredible height.
Arcturus has officially been confirmed as the Tallest domestic cat and reaches a stature of 48.4 cm (19.05 in) and weighs about 30 pounds.
The two-year-old Savannah cat, whose full name is Arcturus Aldebaran Powers, has lived with Will and Lauren since he was just a two-month old kitten.
His owners say that he eats around a pound and a half of food daily and is so tall he can actually stand at the table to eat.
In order to accommodate Arcturus’ height in their household, his owners acquired a Catio (outdoor cat enclosure) that he plays in and they have also installed a medium sized dog door for him to pass through comfortably.
Both kitties are exceptionally well bonded, constantly playing and chasing each other around the house, grooming each other, and sleeping in a cuddle pile.
Lauren and Will applied for the records in order to raise awareness about the Ferndale Cat Shelter they run together. Artcurus and Cygnus take selfies with visitors in exchange for donations to help cats in need.
