Guinness World Records’ most prolific record breaker Ashrita Furman is back with another jaw-dropping attempt.

Watch as the 61-year-old American from New York City attempts to break the record for Most matchsticks extinguished with the tongue in one minute.

The rules for this title state that the use of breath to blow out the fire is strictly prohibited and that the challenger may only extinguish one wooden match at a time.

With a tough total of 30 to beat, Ashrita successfully extinguishes 37 flaming matches in just 60 seconds.

The attempt took place at the Sri Chinmoy Centre in Jamaica, New York, USA.

Shockingly, this is not Ashrita’s most eye-watering achievement involving fire - he achieved Most blow torches extinguished with the tongue last year.
