The audience of Japanese TV show Tantei! Knightscoop bore witness to an astonishing Guinness World Records attempt during a recent episode of the series.

University student Satoyuki Fujimura (Japan) took to the stage to challenge the record for Most finger snaps in one minute in front of official Guinness World Records judge Kaoru Ishikawa.

With a record of 278 clicks to beat, Satoyuki had to push his body to the limit in order to have a chance at achieving the title.

Once 60 seconds were over, adjudicator Kaoru watched a recording of the attempt in slow motion alongside two professional sound engineers to ensure that only audible clicks made using the thumb and middle finger would be included in the final total.

Satoyuki – who was taught his unique skill by his mother as a teenager – successfully achieved a new record of 296 finger snaps in one minute.

He has broken a record that was unchallenged for eight years. The previous record holder was Jens Gudmandsen from Sweden with 278.
