Justin Bieber 9

Justin Bieber
You may have seen headlines circulating a few months ago for the famous pop singer, mainly because he recently achieved eight record titles for his outstanding career in the music industry. Justin’s foremost titles are Most simultaneous new entries in the Hot 100 by a solo artist with 13 songs from his album “Purpose”, Most simultaneous tracks on the US singles chart with 17 tracks for Billboard Hot 100 as dated December 2015, and Most streamed album on Spotify in one week for his most recent album, “Purpose”. With popularity like this, it explains his KCA nomination for "Favorite Male Singer".

Finding Dory
This highly-anticipated sequel to beloved Pixar film Finding Nemo made a big splash in the record books upon opening weekend. With Dory as the lead character, the movie managed to achieve Fastest animated movie to gross $100 million, accruing $100,390,876 within two days of its initial release. This year, the movie is up for three different KCA nominations, including the category "Most Wanted Pet".

Pokemon

Pokemon Moon
This poke-crazed virtual game has been nominated for the Kids Choice Award category "Favorite Video Game", and it comes as no surprise with its two high-demand record titles. Pokémon Moon was downloaded more than 3.5 million times a full month before the games' release in November, giving it the title Most downloaded Nintendo 3DS videogame demo. It also achieved the Most pre-ordered Nintendo videogame ever – breaking two records before ever hitting the stands.

Rihanna

Rihanna
This iconic performer received the ultimate Video Vanguard Award last year, so we expect big things from Rihanna at the Kids Choice Awards. In her career as a singer, her talent has earned her record titles for Most streams on Spotify in one year for a female musician, at 2.5 billion times, Most digital no.1 singles in the US with 13 No.1 hits on Billboard's Digital Songs chart, and Most consecutive years with a UK No.1 single. This record is perhaps one of the most impressive she has, as it is tied with music legends The Beatles and Elvis Presley, at seven consecutive years with a No. 1 single on UK charts.

Minecraft

Minecraft: Story Mode
Competing rival to Pokemon Moon for Favorite Video Game is Minecraft: Story Mode, which is equally played by passionate gamers everywhere. Minecraft is a virtual world adventure game, where users have the option of building and interacting with other players online. Its popularity has made it the world's Best-selling PC videogame, selling 23,922,451 copies for PC/Mac platforms, as well as Largest playable world in a videogame game's physics only work effectively on blocks up to 32 million blocks from the world center. Zootopia
If you love animals, Zooptopia is the film for you! Competing with Finding Dory for the KCA title: "Favorite Animated Movie". While both animated films will be competing for the same orange blimp, they actually share a record title for Most Disney movies in annual top 10 earners. Essentially, out of the top 10 highest-grossing films worldwide, a total of 5 were produced by Disney, which took the top five positions. In order of box-office gross, Captain America: Civil War, Finding Dory, Zootopia, The Jungle Book and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story were all effectively Disney releases – many of which are nominees for the 2017 KCAs!

Scarlett Johansson
The film that has made this actress qualify for a Kids Choice Awards nominee is also one that helped her achieve a world record title. Playing “Black Widow” in Captain America: Civil War, this particular film contributed towards her record title for Most profitable actress for a Hollywood studio – meaning, that she made $88.06 every $1 she received. At this incredible rate, it’s no wonder she has become a triumphant name in the film industry. We’ll see if the votes carry her through for her nomination of Favorite Butt-Kicker.

Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck
You might recognize Ben as the superhero Batman in the KCA-nominated film: Batman v. Superman Dawn of Justice. When Ben took the role for the hit movie, he officially became the world’s Oldest Batman actor at the age of 43. By comparison, Christian Bale was 30 years old when he played Batman for the first time in Batman Begins (2005), and 37 when The Dark Knight Rises was released in 2012. Michael Keaton and Adam West were both 38 when they played Wayne in Batman (1989) and Batman (1966). Ben may be the oldest but that may also mean he is one of the sharpest- as highly decorated actor, he’s one to watch out for at this year’s awards.

Spongebob Squarepants
Spongebob is not a contender to mess with, the show, which has earned 14 Kids Choice Awards in years past, has won nine of those consecutively for "Favorite Cartoon". Although the show is no longer producing new episodes, it’s still a nominee for the 2017 awards. In fact, Spongebob is so popular, it has the record title for First species named after a Spongebob character. Named Spongiforma squarepantsii, a fungus that was discovered in Lambir Hills National Park in Sarawak, Malaysia in 2011 and recorded in the scientific journal Mycologia. Fittingly, the orange-coloured fungus has a sponge-like texture that protects it from drying out. We wonder if species also enjoys pineapples.

Selena Gomez
Last but certainly not least is actress and performer Selena Gomez, who is nominated for this year’s "Favorite Female Singer" category. Selena is known for dominating the KCA’s – as a matter of fact, she holds the Guinness World Records titles for Most Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards won (female) at nine as well as Most Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards won by a female singer at three. However, that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the US celebrity, who also has the Most followers on Instagram at 109,190,858 and is has Most followers on Twitter for an actor (female) at an impressive 46,078,773.
