However, for the first time ever, competitors will also have the chance to take part in two official Guinness World Records (GWR) attempts.

An adjudicator will be there to provide instant, on-the-spot verification for record titles.

The records up for grabs are:

  • Most weight lifted by Atlas stone lifts in one minute (male)
  • Most weight lifted by Atlas stone lifts in one minute (female)

The current male record is 1,122.64 kg while anyone looking to attempt the female record will have to beat 539.77 kg.

This record is for the greatest amount of weight to be lifted via Atlas stones in one minute. Entrants will have to lift a stone and place it on a platform at least 122cm (4 ft) high and let go before returning it to the ground to lift again.

Commenting on GWR's participation at the XDubai Spartan Race event, Talal Omar, Country Manager – MENA, said: “Guinness World Records is delighted to be partnering with XDubai Spartan Race this year, Spartan is not just a race, it’s a way of life!

"Passion is a value we at GWR hold dear and we are very much looking forward to seeing plenty of passion on show as participants look to test themselves to the limit as they try to join the elite and become Guinness World Records title holders.”
