Evan Ungar from Canada has leapt into the record books after breaking the record for the Highest standing jump.

Evan successfully landed a staggering 1.616 metres (5.3 ft) jump at One Health Clubs in Oakville, Ontario – the gym where he works as director of personal fitness – in front of a cheering crowd of over 100 people.

The 24-year-old is 5 ft 10.5 inches tall, which means that he almost jumped his entire body height.

No run-up is permitted for this challenge, so Evan had to propel himself up onto the platform using the strength of his legs alone.

In his application for the title, Evan told Guinness World Records: “I decided to break the record because I wanted to inspire people to do the things they want. To help them realise that nothing is impossible.”
