Sonny’s BBQ decided to celebrate National Pork month in a delicious way by attempting to break the Guinness World Records title for the Largest serving of pulled pork during an event in the restaurant chain's hometown of Winter Park in Florida.
The record bid was also inspired by the newly declared holiday of “National Pulled Pork Day” on October 12th, which was recently introduced by Sonny’s and other members of the BBQ industry.
The incredible meat feast saw a total of 2,012 pounds of shredded pork successfully prepared to set the record.
Throughout the night of the attempt, staff members were on hand to provide attendees cooking demos, a pulled pork eating contest plus music and games and of course, pulled pork.
"By celebrating this Southern tradition, we hope to encourage people to spend time with family and friends while enjoying this time-honored BBQ technique," Montana Smith, Sonny's BBQ Public Relations and Events Manager, told press.
After the event was over, delectable pulled pork sandwiches made from the meat used in the attempt were donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank in Central Florida.
