Each Wednesday we shine a light on the coolest, wackiest, or most unique records from around the globe recently approved by our Records Management Team with our Spotlight series.

This week we’ve been listening to Golden Senior Trio – the Oldest band – a trio of jazz musicians who have played together since 2008 and have an impressive average age of 83 years.

Proving that there’s no age limit to talent and dedication, vibraphone player Naoteru Nabeshima is 89 years old, pianist Zensho Otsuka is 81, and bass player Naosuke Miyamoto is 78 years old.

Previously, the oldest band was the Peace Old Jazz Band from China which, in 2007, had a comparatively youthful average age of 76 years.
