There was a surprise in store for young readers of Guinness World Records earlier this month, after they were given the chance to take a ride on a record breaking shopping trolley.

Matt McKeown, the owner and creator of the unlikely vehicle, which holds the record for fastest motorized shopping trolley, was one of a number of record holders to pop by Guinness World Records’ London headquarters during a special party to mark the company’s 60th anniversary.

The supercharged trolley, which is powered by a modified Chinook helicopter starter engine, hit a record-breaking speed of 113.298 km/h (70.4 mph) at Elvington Airfield back in August last year.

Also proving a big hit with the young party goers, who had been specially invited from across the UK to join in GWR’s diamond anniversary celebrations, was inventor Yannick Reed’s world’s smallest caravan which the special guest's were able to explore.

Joining Matt and Yannick at the party were Paul Hunn, world record holder for the loudest burp, who demonstrated his ear-shattering talent for belching, while stunt cyclist Joe Oakley showed off the skills that have earned him three GWR titles.

Also on hand on the day for the festivities were the makers of CubeStormer III, who showed off their incredible puzzle-solving robot made from Lego which holds the record for Fastest robot to solve a Rubik's Cube after completing the puzzle in just 3.253 seconds.
