The largest lemon nursery was verified this week in Tucumán, Argentina with 551,227 lemon plants.

The record-holding Vivero Citrus (vivero means nursery in Spanish), owned by José Luis Palacios, is situated in the Quebranto de Lules.

After 35 years of diligent work and expansion, Mr. Palacios applied to break the Guinness World Records record for the largest lemon nursery.

While Tucumán may be the smallest province in Argentina, it is the largest producer of lemons in the world.

The fields surrounding the capital of the province, San Miguel de Tucumán, are full of orchards and nurseries growing sugar cane, strawberries and, of course, lemons.
