The Brief

Mace, the construction company famous for building the Shard, organised an official event to celebrate 25 years of achievements of reshaping urban skylines across the world and the company’s ambitious vision for the future.

The events main objective was to find an original idea that would entertain and surprise their 1000 guests a combination of clients, partners, stakeholders and employees and mark the historic landmark by promoting Mace’s ‘Spirit of adventure’ slogan.

The Solution

Because Mace is a company that thrives on adventure, challenge and opportunity, Private Drama, the event company responsible for organising the event, approached Guinness World Records for record ideas that would suit the theme of the celebrations and Mace’s adventurous spirit.

Mace and Private Drama then decided to attempt to break the record for the “Most people performing aerial silks.” The existent record stood at 24 aerial silk dancers, this was a challenging and ambitious record on itself but they then decided to attempt the record live, an impressive feat as no more than 5 people would normally perform this circus act at one time wing to the physical and technical demands for aerial artists to remain synchronised when performing choreographed routines on silks.

Thirty talented acrobats climbed daunting 20-35 ft silks and achieved the record for in spectacular style proving to their 1,000 audience that theywere able to produce another world-first in a different category this time.

We are delighted to announce the achievement of a Guinness World Records title for the Mace ‘Spirit of Adventure’ aerial performance team. We have a track record of doing things bolder and better when delivering our projects such as The Shard in London and tonight we brought this to life at our 25th anniversary event.
